30th April – Gold Coast to Melbourne
1st May - Melbourne to Paris

In Athens we'll be Island hopping. Anyone want to recommend any in particular. We're going to Santorini if the weather allows.

I'm going with my Greek neighbour/adoped grandfather Michael, Michael's nephew (haven't met him but my neighbour is already hearing wedding bells), Michael's grandson and his girlfriend (both my age) and Michael's son.

Actually that was discussed today. I really have no idea what's happening and exactly where we're going as my neighbour and his son are organising the whole thing. I'll probably know more details soonish.

should come to London :P can't see Europe without London. :P Paris is amazing, although you won't see much in a day. Athens was ok when I visited, I really liked Greece but Athens wasn't the best representation I didn't think, definitely don't drive there, their driving is terrifying. But yeah hope you have fun :)

I'd love to go to London again but I'm tagging along. They already had all their itinerary booked. And then I decided to take up the offer to go. So it's all planned.

I think they are planning to go back to Paris for a few days but that will be decided when we are there. I was assured that we would definitely have time to see Paris.

We are going to Athens because Michael was born there and has friends in that area. But we will be island hopping and what not.

And there will be no driving. It's sort of a planned tour so we're picked up from the hotel and taken to the locations for the day. Last time my mother, sister and I went to Rome we drove from the heart of Rome to Sorrento. We thought we were going to die! It was INSANE!!! I assume you've had first hand experience!?

I never got to drive in Athens luckily, as like you I was on an organised trip. However just watching them drive is scary, trying to cross the road was a gamble every time :P Also use of your cars horn seems to be compulsory. Even at 3am there was almost constant honking coming from outside our window. My experience of Athens may have been slightly tainted by the smell as I believe the bin men were on strike at the point we visited. Also people in Greece like many people in the world drive on the silly side of the road... :P

Nice time to visit. Hopefully it won't happen again.

Silly side indeed!! I never got why they have to be backwards...

Oh, how lovely! Can i come? Never know when you might need some advice or info on something *personal*.

My advice about driving in Rome (or Italy, ftm) is that it's best to press the accelerator whilst closing your eyes. Tightly. The Italians are craaaaazy drivers, I love their country (and them), but their national character seems totally out of control when they slip behind the wheel. How any of them make it to old age is beyond me.

The other bit of advice I have is that you rearrange your trip to go to Paris LAST (if you survive Italian roads). That way, it won't feel so bad when you refuse to leave.

That is awesome! My dream is to go to Germany!

Save up and go! I reckon Germany would be awesome. I'm off to Finland and Germany June 2011.

There is so much to see and do in this world. And so little time.

Just found out today that we're adding Prague into the trip! YAY! So excited.
