What do you think about that war?

Here is my view:

President Truman made a statement on June 27, 1950 ordering the United States air and sea forces to give the South Korean regime support.

Then began the direct military intervention of the United States in Korea. The questions raised were clear, but at the same time agonizing. Was that the start the Third World War on the ruins of the Second? And if we on a Third WW what would be the outcome, given the existence of atomic weapons and the possible use?

Also One day before the announcement of President Truman, on the morning of June 26 of 1950, the President of North Korea called his people to defend their land from the attack of south korea.

Who, after all, started the war? When erupted in June of'50, the regime of Syngman Rhee (the leader of south korea), Americans and other imperialists argued that it was launched by North Korea, with the encouragement of the USSR. What is the reality?

The David Horowitz says: «Syngman Rhee had much to gain from a U.S. military intervention in the South Korean regime. On May 30, just four weeks before the hostilities,he suffered a great defeat in the elections. The regime was shaken by lack of confidence, both inside and outside. Facing a situation steadily worsening for them, the Syngman Rhee and his ministers were threatening for several months to invade in North Korea, declaring that they were ready "to capture Pyongyang within a few days". Indeed, the headquarters of MacArthur (Douglas MacArthur, commander of U.S. forces in the Pacific) the day the war broke out, one of the key members of the occupying forces suddenly was asked on the phone. When he came back whispered: "I just became known a great news. The South Koreans invaded in North Korea."

Thus, the Americans in order to make permanent their own imperialist military (and political) presence in the region, assisted on the attack of the South Korean regime, with that pretence (or pretense) in order to have the ability of interventing in the region.
Of course that was a result of the "cold war".

I must admit, my knowledge on this war is almost non existent, so I can't really comment. But I do think it is a shame than the USSR are always made out to be bad people, and constantly at fault.

I'm with Fenriz in the sense that I don't really know anything about this war. It almost sounded like the Vietnam War with the whole North Vs. South and the USA. =/

I don't think the actual people of the USSR really have a choice when it comes to certain stuff, therefore, we should blame their leader or whatever it is.

Not to mention there's some people I know who go "I hate America" when in fact, you just hate the American government, economy, president, etc.

Hmm... I feel as if the US is a bad penny, cropping up everywhere and making things worse. The whole fiasco escalates. Rumours spread. This country did this, this did this. Everyone thinks of the worst and jumps to conclusions. Bang, you have a war.

But yeah, that's just my thoughts :P
